  11.         Voyager Project Manager Norman R. Haynes has been
  12. appointed Deputy Assistant Laboratory Director of JPL's
  13. Office of Flight Projects, and Haynes' deputy, George P.
  14. Textor, has been named Voyager Project Manager.
  15.         The appointments were announced by JPL Director Dr.
  16. Lew Allen and are effective immediately.
  17.         Haynes, who managed the Voyager mission during last
  18. summer's flyby of Neptune, has been with JPL since 1959.  He
  19. has held key spacecraft project positions, including science
  20. and mission design manager for the Galileo project.  He
  21. served as manager of JPL's mission design section, managed
  22. the office of space program development, and headed the
  23. Laboratory's systems division before being appointed manager
  24. of the Voyager Project in 1986.  
  25.         Haynes, 53, was born in Kalamazoo, Mich.  He
  26. received a bachelor's degree in aeronautical engineering from
  27. Purdue University in 1959, and a master's degree in
  28. aeronautical engineering in 1961.  He has received NASA's
  29. Exceptional Service and Outstanding Leadership
  30. Medals.  Haynes is married, has four children, and resides in
  31. Pasadena, Calif.

  33.         George P. Textor has been with JPL since 1967 and
  34. has served in a variety of engineering and managerial
  35. positions on flight projects including the Mariner and Viking
  36. missions to Mars.  In 1977, Textor joined the Voyager Project
  37. as encounter preparations manager, and has remained with the
  38. project since, serving as deputy mission director, mission
  39. director and deputy project manager.  He is the recipient of
  40. NASA's Exceptional Service Medal for his work on the Viking
  41. Project, and twice has been awarded NASA's Outstanding
  42. Leadership Medal for his role in conducting the Voyager
  43. mission.
  44.         Textor, 56, was born in Wilkinsburg, Penn.  He
  45. received a bachelor's degree from the U.S. Naval Academy in
  46. 1956, and served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force from 
  47. 1956-67.  Married and the father of four children, Textor
  48. resides in Pasadena, Calif.
